Food substitutes: Hype or Revolution?

Can you live on a meal substitute alone?

... no!

And for several reasons. That's why Ambro does only wants to be a - healthy substitute in times of need. For example, when you need to save time while rushing from appointment to appointment in your busy life. In one of the previous blog posts we already covered Ambro's closest substitute, Soylent, quite in detail, but we would rather want to make you think about using these kinds of meal substitutes in general.

As mentioned in a previous blog post, there was an experiment in which Soylent was used for 30 days straight. Check out this video (high-quality version here) about the experiment and find out how a fried chicken tastes after 30 days of chemical liquid food-replacement.

Food replacements have also been said to tackle a larger problem: could those be the solution for the world's food challenge? This aspect is brought up in Soylent's advertising, but might the world then not end up looking like this...?

Brian Merchant, the journalist who tried Soylent for a month, once more sums up the benefits of regular meals. Although he acknowledges the current food problems (not to mention the current food waste), he thinks the solution lies in combining both philosophies: less wasteful, more efficient foods and the social joy of rituals and tradition. This suits the idea of Ambro perfectly, as is written in the article on Wired"We are fans of good food and family dinners. Ambro is for the times food needs to work around you.
